The only difference between a successful person and an unsuccessful person is in the way they think. Knowing that, if you could learn to think like a successful person, wouldn’t that be a good investment of time?

Rereading David J. Schwartz’s The Magic of Thinking Big, I realized that it’s one thing to say “Think Like a Successful Person” and another thing to know exactly how to do it.

“When you believe, your mind finds a way to do it.”

Schwartz suggests the following ways to help you learn how to think and dream creatively like successful people do:

1. Believe that it can be done. When you believe something can be done, your mind will find ways to do it. Believing in a solution paves the way to the solution. Eliminate “impossible”, “it won’t work”, “you can’t”, “there’s no use trying” from your thought and speech vocabularies.

2. Don’t let tradition paralyze your mind. Be receptive to new ideas. Be experimental. Try new approaches. Be progressive in everything you do.

3. Ask yourself every day: “How can I do better?” There is no limit to self-improvement. When you ask yourself, “How can I do better?” audible responses will appear. Try it and you will see.

4. Ask yourself, “How can I do more?” Capacity is a state of mind. Asking yourself these questions puts your mind to work finding smart shortcuts. The combination of success in business is: do what you do best (improve the quality of your production) and: do more of what you do (increase the quantity of your production).

5. Practice asking and listening. Ask and listen and you will obtain raw material to make the right decisions. Remember: big people monopolize listening: little people monopolize talking.

6. Stretch your mind. be stimulated Associate with people who can help you think of new ideas, new ways of doing things. Mix with people of different work and social interests.

Take time each day for self-improvement. Spend at least 30 minutes each morning thinking about what you’re thinking. What is that little voice in your head telling you? If that voice isn’t helping you, follow these steps every day and ask yourself these questions. Answer honestly and be creative. Write down your thoughts and review them each day. You will be surprised what you can achieve. You have all the answers within you. Now you just need to ask yourself the right questions.
